Korean BBQ (Bulgogi)

Ingredients:

 

To create the perfect Bulgogi, you will need the following ingredients:

 

  • 1.5 pounds of thinly sliced beef
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons of mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons of rice wine or dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil (for grilling)

 

 

Instructions:

 

  1. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, mirin, rice wine, sesame seeds, green onions, and black pepper in a bowl. Then, stir until fully mixed to enhance beef flavor.
  2. Add thin meat to sauce for flavor. Ensure equal coating on every slice. Cover bowl, chill for 1 hour to blend flavors.
  3. Preheat grill or pan to medium-high. Remove beef from marinade and let excess liquid drip off before cooking. Grill and heat up simultaneously.
  4. Apply oil to grill to prevent sticking. Grill marinated beef slices individually. Avoid overlap. Cook meat for 2-3 mins/side till brown & slightly burned. Don't overcook beef for better taste.
  5. Serve the well-cooked beef with sesame seeds and green onions for added flavor and presentation.
  6. Make a Korean Bulgogi wrap by placing rice and beef on a lettuce leaf. Put filling in lettuce leaf and fold to close. Take a bite and savor the flavors.

 

 

Tips:

 

  • Choose thinly sliced beef with some fat for best results. Ensure soft, tasty food.
  • Marinate the beef at least 30 minutes. The longer it marinates, the better the flavor.
